In writing her first two books, The New Stranded Colorwork, and Teach Yourself Visually Color Knitting, Mary fled the realm of Information Technology to pursue a more yarn-centered way of life.

The many friends she found along the way have helped her become a nationally-recognized designer, teacher and author. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Mary shares a wee little house there with her husband, two children, some Scottish Terriers, and more yarn than is strictly necessary.

Knit slippers for someone, and you'll keep their toes warm. Give the slippers googly eyes, floppy ears, or a puffy tail, and you will give them and everyone they meet something to giggle about.

Do you know someone who could use beyond-cute slippers that resemble a woodland creature, conjure an iconic movie scene, or sweep the wearer off to Oz? Fun and Fantastical Slippers to Knit adds a little fun to indoor footwear.

They transport us back to those carefree days of childhood when playing dress-up and make-believe occupied hours of our time.

Tweens, teens, hipsters, and even self-restrained adult-types are all rockin' these zaney and unique slippers. The twenty knit slippers in this book are designed in sizes to fit kids to adults and are coveted by guys and gals alike. They represent a variety of knitting styles; some are knitted and felted for extra comfort and warmth. Imagine pacing the floor in colorful joker booties or gazing over your big fluffy sheep slippers at the nightly news. Designed by author Mary Scott Huff, these slippers are every bit as adorable, and quirky as her fantastical hats!

Consumer review about Fun and Fantastical Slippers to Knit: Animals, Monsters & Other Favorites for Kids and Grownups :

This book contains 20 patterns for slippers ranging from elegant, through fun, to downright quirky! There are slippers and sizes for men, women, and children.I love the trading turkish moccasins with instructions on sewing a leather sole, and the multicoloured jester felted ones, but whatever your tastes you should find some for you and yours. Obviously with such a range of styles, there is also a big range of complexity. However there are clear photos and instructions for specialist techniques, so should be possible for even those just beyind the beginner stages of learning to knit. Some are just knitted, some are felted, and again there are clear instructions for this. If you are a beginner, try one if the felted styles first, as these hide lots of things like extra stitches and bumps etc!All in all, an excellent book on slippers, which makes me doubt I will ever need another book on this subject ;)(Read more)
